Since you suggested trying the easier things first, and I agree, consider replacing the ign switch that is located under the dash on the steering column.
That is one cause for losing power to the things necessary to keep it running.

Now 400+ miles on the odometer with a new/$35 junk yard computer. No problems whatsoever.
I like people on here to post the end results and I hope and believe that this is mine.
If it takes a header again. I'll report back but from the moment I attached the negative lead on the battery and fired it up, it's been a much happier car. Idles smoothly with no high or low idle (going back and forth between). Much better gas mileage (closer to 30 out on the highway now) and the biggest difference no stalling and dieing.
Wish me luck, but I'm pretty sure I wont need any.
