I have a 97 LeSabre that has a remote start. The vehicle will start via the remote start. It will not start using the key. No sound or the starter trying to engage or anything. All the accessories will work when the key is turned to that position. The remote start has been installed for some time now. The Vats has been disabled/bypassed using a resistor. Whenit is running via the remote start, akey is put in the key cylinder and turned to the on position and then the brake pedal id depressed, the car dies. It is acting as if a key is not present in the cylinder. What could cause this? Is there something in the cylinder to make it known that a key is or isn't there? Please help.

Hey there. I have an 03 so this may not be the problem but mine wouldn''t start or even turn over with any key I had. Turns out my battery was crap and there is a security module somewhere that went corrupt. It''s job is to recognize the different keys and when it doesn''t work, it locks down the whole system. I had to pay a decent amount from the dealership to find the part and fix it.

Well I hope that at least gives a little insight.
