Default 58 Buick Special

I just bout a 58 Buick Special and I am having trouble getting a good stream of fuel from the Gas Tank. I replaced the Fuel Pump and Filter. I did drain some old gas out but I only get a low flow when the car is running. Help!

Love those 58's.
If you can try blowing some air back through the line in from the tank. There is a filter sock on the pick-up tube in the tank to prevent stuff from getting into the pump etc.
It could be partially plugged with rust if the vehicle sat for a considerable time. I know you don't want to hear this , but you may need to drop the tank and check the inside, the filter sock etc. If you do decide to drop the tank try to get the "O" ring for the pick-up tube unit before you remove the pick-up tube.. Once you remove them it is almost impossible to reinstall them because they swell and just get too big.
I always loved those cars because there was so much iron on the rear that if anything ever hit you they might as well hit a brick wall. Let us know how you make out.

Hanky,

Thanks for the advice. I think that my son and I have decided to drop the tank and have it cleaned out. While it is out we probably will replace the sending unit. I found the sending unit on line but what about the O ring that you mentioned. Do you have a web sight that sells all of these parts for the 58 buick specials?

Thanks again and will keep you posted.

Hopefully, someone with more knowledge of obtaining parts for vintage cars will respond. I at this time don't know of any of those places, sorry.
