1986 Century Limited won't start, need help
Only 77335 miles on the clock. This a 3.8L SFI LG3, used as a daily driver. It began bogging down and almost stalling on acceleration. I replaced the crank position sensor. I drove it a few times like that but it started doing the same thing again. I checked and cleaned all the harness connections from the crank position sensor to the fire wall. I started it and started up our steep driveway, got about half way up and it stalled. It has never run since. The only trouble code was 42. I replaced the TPS. On the advice of a friend, I have also rechecked all the harness connections, this time all the way to the ECM.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks.

If you have access to a fuel pressure test gauge, check the pressure with the key on, engine off, and again with the key on, engine running. Is the fuel pump working okay? When was the fuel filter replaced last? What about the fuel pressure regulator?

I believe a code 42 involves the EST system (Electronic Spark Timing).
Without any test equipment to confirm a faulty ignition module, the next best thing after checking for any poor connections or open wires would be to just replace the ignition module. It's located under the coil pack. Cost in the area of $50.00.
If you are sure the crank sensor is OK and sending a signal to the module?
Sometimes crank sensors get temperature sensitive. Will it run ok for a few minutes before the sensor gets warm and then quit? Dump some cold water on it and if it starts ok the crank sensor could be a problem. It would not give a code 42 though.
